Discover Huddersfield works with volunteers to help deliver its activities in order to promote our wonderful town. We are always on the look out for passionate and enthusiastic people who love the outdoors, really love connecting with people and have a sense of pride in all that they do!
With guided tours proving very popular, part of our aim at Discover Huddersfield is to develop a volunteer programme so that local people can get involved. This programme offers a series of training sessions covering everything from customer service to public speaking; mentoring and guidance by experienced tour guides. Some of the core skills that volunteers develop are:
– Background Knowledge: basic knowledge of Huddersfield history, areas/buildings/people of significance
– Guiding Techniques: adapting to an audience, Health & Safety, pace, etc
– Public Speaking: warm-up techniques, voice work, confidence building drama exercises
– Customer Service: communicating with customers, processing complaints, promoting the project
Volunteering with DH carries a number of benefits so why not contact us to find out further information about available opportunities!
